Josh Passit & Wand Hand
"Josh, you're on Wendy in the next set. Adam can take Al from you." Josh sighed in relief at Lynn's words. Al was acting like his usual self, bucking, kicking, and biting. There were only two things worse than Al. Al and his twin Oscar, who was now at Kings Park, and Flat Creek's own Devil I Am. He handed the big blue roan colt off to the groom, then hurried over to Wendy's stall. The tovero filly was a tomboy, but she wasn't near as bad as Al or her half brother Dev. Compared to them, Wand Hand was a sweetheart.
He led the filly out of her stall and clipped her into the cross ties, soon having her saddled and ready to go. He laid her leather halter with the brass nameplate on Wendy's stall and led her towards where Lynn was standing. Lynn was in charge for today, since John had gone on a short vacation with an old high school friend. He would be back by the end of the week, but meanwhile Lynn was in charge, with Sarah to help.
"Just take her out for a quick three furlong blow out for her next race. If you want to work her with somebody, feel free. She seemed to like the competition in her maiden race." Josh just nodded in reply as Lynn gave him a leg up and he walked the filly towards the track. It was then that a plastic bag drifted past on the slight breeze. With any other horse, it wouldn't have been a problem, but Wendy wasn't 'any other horse'. She had a phobia of plastic bags, for no reason. At the sight of it, the tovero filly spun and bolted towards the barn. "Easy, girl, easy." After a few strides, she stopped and Josh managed to turn the scared filly towards the track once again.
This time, the pair made it to the track, where Josh made sure to scan the area for anything of the scary plastic varity. Once sure the area was clear, he eased her into a jog, letting her loosen up her muscles before he urged Wendy into an easy canter. After about two furlongs, Josh's eyes were drawn to another horse, once that he hadn't seen before. However, he kept cantering Wendy, figuring that if they wanted to talk they would come over and talk.
