Bought in Florida by Emilia as a yearling, Dee has made his mark as being the colt everyone seems to give a wide berth. Forever Alexander Racing's "problem child", Dee doesn't like people. At all. There are people he puts up with, including Emilia who he has claimed as his "human mommy mare". There isn't a single person in the barn that the colt hasn't bitten, kicked, or who hasn't been subjected to Dee's ambushes, tantrums and all out wrath.
Though he is still young, you can imagine everybody's shock when they took a look at his legs. Possessing not overly huge hocks, he was still very tall for being a two year old and the vet has predicted he will get bigger. It didn't take long for Dee to grow into himself and figure out where his feet are, which has further proven to the people who work with him that the colt is wickedly smart and this makes him all the more terrifying.
Out on the track, the main focus for Dee is to keep him from eating his competition. He's aggressive in the barn and on the track is no different, but with the times he's put in, all Emilia can hope for is that he'll put that speed to good use and not turn into a wild man out on the field. It took one morning during a workout and training him on his stay that Dee turned his head with teeth bared and pinned ears, trying rip the side of his opponent's face off.
Ok, so this we need to work on. He can run, there's no doubt about that and he moves like a freight train. It's all about harnessing that power. With his disposition, Emilia dreads that he may be another Hastings when he gets older. Let's just hope he has the same success.

If we're looking into how I've written Dee in a story I've been working on, let me give you a bit of a background on him. Dee is sired by one of my favorite stallions, Medaglia d'Oro, his grandsire being El Prado (IRE). His dam is She's a Devil Due, the daughter moderately well known stallion Devil His Due. Both horses are black, so I assumed the extension would be hereditary and dominant, but that doesn't make Dee homozygous. As for the mutant blue eyes, I just assumed they would be past down every other generation but who knows. As for his disposition, however, a bit of background on those horses. Devil His Due is on the list of the meanest Thoroughbred Stallions in History. Looking back down his lines, I found that he's also a predecessor to Halo. Looking back on the Behind The Bit list of Meanest Thoroughbreds in History, the exact quote used next to Halo's name was, and I quote, "Psychotic." More hilariously I googled Halo's image and the first thing that pops up is an overexcited black horse with a muzzle. Hence Dee's personality. Even more terrifying which I just recently found out, you go farther down Medaglia d'Oro's line; I believe on his dam's side, he too is a distant relative of Hastings himself. So as you can see, in a disposition sense, Dee sort of got the short end of the stick. But due to his temperament and his lineage, he has been christened by a few people the "Devil Colt" or "Black Devil". You can see what we've gotten ourselves into.
