[bg=black][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] Lee & Daemon, Ricky & Magneta
Another early start for Lee, a thing she wouldn’t change for the world. Sure their horses weren’t given as many awards as the other stables, but that was because they preferred training them over racing them with little practice. Today she’d told Ricky they were going to work Maggie along with Demon, a perfect pairing in a sense… well they were both ornery and fast with good stamina. She’d waited until Maggie and Cael were four, deciding now to start their career. It was to be the first work out before their maidens, and she wanted to make sure Maggie was on her A game.
It was a short walk to the barn, and Lee couldn’t help but grin in amusement as she caught sight of the grooms struggling to lead Die from the barn to where she stood. She couldn’t help but him ‘A Hero Comes Home’ as she watched them in silence. Die huffed and tossed his head, limbs throwing front end up in the air as a low neigh ripped from vocals. This move ripped the shank from the hands of the groom leading him, and the one who’d been trying to attach another floundered. Die lunged forth causing both grooms to scatter with cries of fear, and Lee shook her head as the large black stallion bolted across the yard. A shrill whistle escaped her lips, causing Dies path to shift, charging towards her instead. The grooms cried out for her to move, sure the stallion would trample her. Lee held her ground though, and chuckled when Die came to a halt before her. ”Always gotta give em a hard time don’t ya boy?” She mumbled, grabbing the shank. Die whickered softly and followed after Lee, leaving the grooms to stare in awe.
”Ya know, Sometimes I think you and him plan these things.” Ricky drawled, causing Lee to turn from where she was tacking Die. Her friend and jockey was already upon Maggie, watching a few feet away as she added the finishing touches. ”Why ever do you say that?” Lee questioned, swinging up onto Dies back. ”Awe…Worship…respect…people being afraid of Die.” Ricky listed off on his fingers as Lee nudged Die forth. ”Ow!” He cried out, glaring at her as she smacked him upside the head. ”I do not. Besides I’m their boss, they should respect me regardless of how this hellion acts. Now come on.” Ricky grumbled but nudged the young filly after Lee and Die.
It didn’t take them long before the exited the yard and were heading to the track, both horses trotting admibly beside each other. ”It’s odd, they’re the worst behaved horses in the barn but they get along.” Ricky murmured, patting the grullos neck. ”A match made in heaven,” ”Or hell.” ”True. So, what should we work em out for?” Lee pondered that for a moment. ”Ten furlongs?” When Ricky nodded, they circled around and headed onto the track. This would be one interesting work out.
