As Lee approached the barn the sound of a scuffle reached her ears, as well as a whiney and snort. Rolling her emerald green eyes she headed into the barn, to find one of the newer stable hands walking in a circle with a very agitated Demon circling them. Mike was standing off to the side with a smirk on his face, Lee targeted him as Rick moved to take Demon from the stablehand. ”Just what are you playing at Mike?” Lee hissed at him, relaxing some when her jockey grabbed the shank from the young man and settled the large behemoth down. ”What do you mean?” Mike asked, lips twitching as he watched the stablehand all but run from the barn. ”You know damn well what I mean, and we’ll talk about this when I get back.” Lee turned to the jockey then and headed over, snatching the shank from his hands causing Demon to snort and toss his head.
”Easy boy.” She murmured almost automatically, before patting the stallions neck and leading him towards the tack room. Dropping the shank she eyed him for a moment ”Stand.” Demon snorted but remained where he was, while Lee gathered his tack and groom box. It didn’t take long before she had him shining, and was up on his back ready to go. ”We’ll be back.” She told Mike and Ricky before nudging her black stallion for a trot. Demon readily accepted this command and moved into a fluid trot, knowing where they were headed. Lee chuckled at the horses eagerness, though she had to pull back on the reins when he spotted his rival… Challanger leaving the practice track. ”Woah boy.” Lee said, turning him down the track and asking him for a trot again. Demon surely would have rolled his eyes if he could, but since he couldn’t he simply shook his head before kicking into a trot once more.
It always amazed Lee how something so big and powerful could seem so beautiful and fluid on the track, but Demon did. After a few minutes of trotting she clicked to him twice and he bolted down the track. Lee bent down towards his neck and held onto the reins, watching as things zipped by in the corner of her eyes and Demon seemed to fly. As soon as one hoof hit three were off, his body stretched as far as it would go before he seemed to coil and release again and again. Lee let him run for a mile before slowly pulling back on the reins. ”Woah boy, easy boy.” She cooed when he tossed his head and half reared as she pulled him down to a stop. Circling him around she asked him for a trot, to which he complied before they headed back to the barn for a much needed bath….for Demon.
