Selena Hassen and Sola
The stables were pretty quiet at five in the morning, when Zorya was out on the track. The filly was renouned for the loud wakeup call she gave everyone around whenever she felt it was time for a run, and she usually wouldn't stop until she was well on her way to her morning workout.
New to the stables, Selena had been brushing the three horses that were kept for breeding since she had arrived; and now she was almost finished with her final charge, Coursette. The mare was quiet today, which was most uncharacteristic for her. She usually had a temper a mile high. Today though, she was settled and polite, though she had sent a few nasty looks towards Selena when asked to move over and pick up her feet.
Finishing up, the girl stepped out of the stall just in time to see Tally putting Essy on the walker, steam still rising from the filly's back in the frigid morning air. "Morning Tally," she called, moving to put her grooming tools back into the shed that lay next to Coursette's stall. As she did, the trainer approached, apparently needing to talk to her.
"You able to ride this morning?" Tally asked. Selena nodded quickly, grinning in anticipation. Her first ride! She had done trackwork and stable work for another stable previously, but this was the first time that Tally had offered her a ride. Usually the horses were covered by the three older workers; not that she minded, the stable work was just as interesting as riding, though not quite as satisfying.
Tally smiled at her eager nod. "I need someone to take Sola out; do you think you can handle that? She takes a bit of effort to hold on to, but from what I've seen you can handle it."
"I can do that," Selena replied easily, grinning like mad. As soon as Tally nodded and turned towards Reema, Selena was off towards Sola's stall with a lead and soon enough, they were walking down the road to the track.
Only a sleepy-looking Smoke was left at the stalls by the track, along with a saddle and bridle that had been left out for Sola and a few towels. Despite the filly's nervous dancing, Selena had her tacked up quickly, and then led her out, looking around for someone to give her a leg-up.
